- Detection of only E gene is suggestive of presence of Sarbeco virus RNA and is inconclusive for detection of SARS- CoV2. It is advised to repeat sample after three days.
- Negative results does not rule out the possibility of Covid – 19 infection specially specimen is high, Rate of positive PCR may be affected by stage of disease &/ or its severity. False Negative results may be seen in sample collected too early or too late in clinical course of infection kindly correlate clinically.
- As per ICMR guideline (05/08/20) it is not recommended to rely on numerical Ct value for detaining infectiousness of COVID-19 patients and deciding patients management protocols
